My teenage son has been freaked out about this for quite awhile now. He's asked several times for permission to build a bunker I think it's very widespread and hyped in the teen domain... I remind him how we all worried about Y2K when he was 10, and nothing happened. Let's hope this is the same :P

Meanwhile I guess we shouldn't sweat the hit on our RRSPs, eh? We might never get the chance to use them - LOL

IN my childhood and teens it was nuclear war. Remember Red Dawn and all the other movies out there. It scared me pretty bad as a child. Its sad to see it happening in the newer generations as well. I would love to know what your son thinks is going to happen exactly?

I just asked him, and he said he heard radiation from the sun will drive half the world's population insane, the poles will switch causing massive upheaval, and something about the Earth being lined up with a black hole... He wants to build a bunker, stock it with supplies, and live out the insanity...

I remember being terrified of nukes at his age, too (he's 18). My mother remembers practicing in school for bomb attacks (1950s). Every generation seems to have something to freak them out, but this one has information overload at their fingertips...

I like that comment about maxing out the credit cards - Good idea!! LOL

My son just reminded me that there's no point in spending money on Christmas gifts that year, either - LOL

I heard that the partical accelerator over in... Europe? I cant even remember where it is.... the one they feared would cause a black hole... actually did but we wont notice it until 2012 :s

Ive studied Mayan culture intensely throughout my schooling and they were spot on with a lot of things, but every culture has an 'end of the world'. Its the inability of humans to wrap their heads around the concept of infinity, or forever. The vastness of time and space is so hard for me to grasp. So things must come to an end for us eventually. But even if humans are removed (which will be a blessing on this earth!) life will continue, in some form or another.

I don't really think anything will happen, but if it did I guess I wont have to worry about a pension plan!
