Default Suggestions for base rock?

Decided to quit mucking around, and go BIG! I'll be converting my 180 reef ready tank into a reef tank! I can't fill the tank with live rock though, so looking at options for base rock. Thought Lava rock would do nicely, except it's not available in white. Someone suggested Tufa; is that a good option? Any other suggestions? Would it be safe to buy from a landscape type place? Anything I need to know or be aware of?????

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/s...ct_ID=cs-rrock

$60 for 50LBS.

I used the Caribsea rock for my base rock and I wouldn't hesitate to use it again. It is very porous and before long any exposed rock colours up with Coraline algae.

I was Kullman's Garden Ctr and they were selling rock called Ocean Rock for ponds, looked very similar to LR forms. Pieces were priced individually but guessing on the weights probably selling for ~$3/lb.

Or this rock from Bulk Reef supply. Very good size pieces for a great price and they have flat rate Import fee's. I paid to my door 192.00 for 50pounds. That was with shipping and fee's etc. So works out to 3.80 a pound shipped.
