Default sump designs?

i m starting up a new tank its a 50 g and i m puting a sump on it i have never done one befor i have been looking on the net and theres a bunch of diffrent ways of doing them and i just wanted to see if any one had some good ideas on what works good and what doesnt work so good and just give me some help on geting things going thanks
