Default Reef Health and Human Impacts

Here's an interesting video by Dr. Bruce Carlson on Coral Bleaching and Algal overgrowth on some reefs in Fiji. It is interesting to note that where people ate all the herbivores(fish and urchins) the alga took over while the area that had a massive bleaching event totally recovered without the human impacts.

While on the topic of human impacts on coral reefs, Walt Smith in Fiji has mentioned that the government is reducing the amount of live rock exports every year. It would not surprise me if they totally ban wild rock export by the end of the decade.

Walt has perfected the creation of man made live rock. Artisan Made Reef Project Rock is now available in a dry form or an ocean seeded form. Here is a link to the Facebook page.

Both the dry rock and the ocean seeded are presently in stock here.

Cheers,
Tim
