Default Lighting question

This has probley been covered before, but is there a big differance between VHO and power compacts? The new tank will be set up as a reef but with just small fish and softies such as gsp, shrooms, etc.Once it has matured and become stable,I'll upgrade to mh and a few differant corals.
I was going to transfer everything from the 55,but don't want to disturbe the somewhat stable enviroment.

PC's are aproximatly 10% more intence than VHO of the same size and color temp. having said this I use VHO for my actinic as I like the color better than the PC actinic. for 10000K lighting I do use PC's on my smaller tank though.
