Default Choice of camera?

My wife dropped my camera the other day and with the lenses doing the flip flop on the inside I think it is time for a new one.

I can't afford a real expensive one (not with the hobbie I am in anyways) But would like to take some good pictures and maybe upgrade some lenses at a later date.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.
