Default New sump: Motivation came as a kick in the pants

I've been wanting to build a new sump for a long time as I have never been happy with the setup I have now. It's been on my mind but way down the list of priorities. I finally got the kick I needed to get after it this week in the form of a dead pump on my closed loop. In order to accomodate the new sump I wanted, I'd also need to relocate and replumb the closed loop pump. End of last week, the pump cratered and is beyond repair. As I was never really happy with the reliability of the old one (third time it leaked) and I can't find a retailer of parts anymore for it, a new pump of a different brand is on it way (just missed the good Boxing Day sales, Doh!) The new pump will not be a direct replacement for the old one, so, since I was having to do some plumbing anyway, I figured I may as well tackle the sump too.

I picked up the acrylic today and a ton of plumbing fittings (I'm sure I'll still need more). Tommorrow I'll get started on the sump build.

Mostly I'm going to love the tidier layout of the sump and under tank area.

Good progress today. The sump is mostly done. Tommorrow I'll water test it and get the last of the work done on it.

I do want to also replace the skimmer but that will be another time. Not sure what I want yet, but would like something with a smaller footprint. This Aqua-C is freaking huge.

Wow that looks great. Where did you get the acrylic from. And how much did it cost?
