I would recommend doing a snorkel or dive in a cenote. Was one of the coolest things we did.

We are staying at Barceló Maya beach resort, it was recommend by my mechanic he's been going there for 10 years and says it's one of the best along there.
We are going to Xcaret to do a day of river floating and snorkeling sounds like an awesome place.

Xcaret is great. Was the highlight of our trip 2 years ago. I was not that impressed with the snorkeling and corals though. I guess I have been spoiled by Maui.

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.

I was not impressed on snorkelling at Xcaret, only a few fish here in there and that's about it. Or maybe I'm just used to the reef that I grew up with

No, Xcaret is not about snorkeling, although you do that, too, through the caves, etc. It's more of a theme park. But it is impressive. Definitely worth spending a day there. You learn a lot about the local culture and wild life, too.

Sounds like I'll be glad I booked the day tour there.
