I've had them in my tanks for years with no issues at all. They don't seem evasive.

Good to know. I kind of like them they provide a nice contrast to some of the richer colours in the tank.

I've had black sponges in my sump for over two years now and forgot about them until I read this! Hasn't been an issue.
