Default AquaC Remora add Injector Access Screw

I just got my AquaC Remora off of Ebay (Pls don't flame me ) and it turns out its a 1st Generation, without the Injector Access Screw.

Has anyone added the Injector Access Screw to a 1st-Gen Remora?
Can I drill/tap the pipe and add one? If I can, do I align the hole to the center of the down pipe?

On the newer models, is that how its aligned?

You don't really need it. All it is for is cleaning the injector which can be done from the bottom. Try it with out and if you have issues then start to mod it. And yes the hole is directly over top of the injector.

How do you get at it from below?
I can get at the intake side - soaked it in vinegar overnight and ran a pipecleaner from this end.
I can't get at the outlet side, its blocked by a baffle that goes from the front to the back of the housing.

Does it spray? Are you cleaning it because it needs or you want to? in over a year of my Urchin, I never had to clean mine.

Cleaning it 'cause I just got it, used, off Ebay & have no clue about its history.
I'm assuming the worst and making sure its running at max efficiency.
I got a new MaxiJet 1200 and put that on at the same time.

BTW, I got it in running last night and it started out very white foam and now its slowly getting darker - colour of really weak tea, right now.

Had to mod a brace for the overflow box I fabbed because it kept floating up and cavitating the pump, but other than that its fizzing on.

As soon as I get a few minutes, I'll post pics of the install, overflow box build & the brace.

Talked to Steve at AquaC today and he figures I can Reeeeaaalllly carefully drill & tap the pipe to put in the Access Screw.
He's sending me the screw for that, Screws for the level adjust foot and Collection cup, plus a couple of o-rings and a Remora sticker to replace the worn out one on the back of the skimmer!
WooHoo, just like Christmas

Check out the build Thread
