Well, I got my UV light working again, and in 3 days the water is almost crystal clear again. In fairness, though, it started to clear a bit just before, from being totally green, and not being able to see any fish.

My theory is that previously when the UV light was working and the water was clear, it was actually loaded with phosphates, as there was nothing to consume them. Then when the UV light quit, the algae had a lot of phosphates available, which caused my pea soup algae bloom. After a couple weeks of that, the phosphates were depleted, and the water started to clear again.

Anyway, it all looks good now, and the fish are fine.

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.
