along the same lines as keeping ornamental clams, mangroves, caulerpras... filter feeders, uptake of nitrates, organics, phosphates... etc
though id imagine grocery store oysters are cold water creatures, so not a good idea.

yep
worked for a seafood company,,,,, got a bunch of abalone from them,,, put them in my tank,,, they rolled over and poached..
If you try it ,,, I suggest temp acclimation very ,, very fricking slow...

Tried it a couple times. They'll live for a few weeks looking great. Eventually, they succumb and die off one by one. This may or may not be a big deal depending on your bristleworm and hermit population. It's often easier to just look for ornamental oysters like honeycomb and thorneys.
