Default Otterbox for iPad

Do you have an Otterbox for your iPad?
Does it work well? Do you like it?

I have an Otterbox Defender for my iPad 1.

The Otterbox Defender is big, bulky, heavy and ugly.

But, my iPad has been dropped on the ground, and on cement. My three-year-old has thrown it from our bed onto the floor. It has bounced around and slid all over the floor of my truck while out ice fishing. It has been launched from the dashboard of my truck into the backseat while out in the bush.

My iPad has taken an extraordinary amount of crap and abuse over the course of two years. It goes to the gun range with me, fishing with me, canoeing with me (in an additional waterproof bag), I use it for navigation and take it camping, . . . you name it. It doesn't have a scratch. The Otterbox does have a little piece broken out of the removable dock door, and the front cover doesn't fit quite as snugly as it used to.

The Otterbox has been worth every penny (despite how horribly big, bulky, heavy and ugly it is).

I just bought the iPad 3, and am looking for a good case. But I heard it can run a little hotter, so was wondering how these cases affect that.

Solutions are easy. The real difficulty lies in discovering the problem.

I haven't had any issues with heat, but since I'm still using an iPad 1 it may not be as big an issue for me. I suspect the new iPads with the cameras and more memory could naturally run a bit hotter, and it may be a legitimate issue.

I don't have an ipad, but use the otterbox commuter on my wifes blackberry (which use to be mine) and on my new iphone.

Otterbox in my opinion is the best case out there for any device! Best thing to remember is that they usually make several models for each device. For example the blackberry and iphone, they have an industrial model, big and more bulky, but the commuter (which I bought) is slim and nice looking. Doesn't give the best protection compared to its bigger brother, but the smaller model still is better than its competitors.
