Default Silicone wreck seal?

Will putting silicone onto a bulkhead seal wreck it due to the supposed acidity of the silicone? Or would I be safe to take the silicone off and the thing would still seal properly? We siliconed the bulkhead tonight, but I don't think it looks very nice and I'm not sure it's necessary....

Properly installed bulkheads generally don't require silicone to form a proper seal.

Just don't overtighten and they should be fine.

There is silicone already on them. My question was can I take the silicone off safely or would that wreck the seal?

It should come off the seal quite easily with no damage to the seal. Just rub it with your fingers a bit, that will rub off the silicone
