Default Lighting Ideas

Hi all,

We currently have a 65 gallon reef tank (36" L x 25" H x 18" w), and I am trying to decide what kind of lighting to put in. Because the tank is so deep I want to ensure I have strong enough light, so that anything we decide to put in the tank will be happy. So I was hoping for some thoughts from you.

Ideally we would want enough lighting so that we can keep any kind of coral, yet at the same time not spend a fortune on the system. Apparently money does not grow on trees and my plan to win the lottery has not worked out yet

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Martin

Well Martin on a tank that size you can probably get away with one halide light. At that depth a 250w would probably give you your most vestatility.

Another idea is to use 2x175w lamps over the 3 foot span and you will get quite a bit of overlaping of the 2 lights which would probably be great as well.

There are may options as you know.
