Default clam help asap

my squamosa clam has lost the muscle that opens and closes it how would this have hapend? its still alive but the only way to close it is for me to manuly do it it doesnt open that much iether any help apreshated

Scott, take it out and look for/clean any pyram (I think they're called) snails.

pyramid snails are evil, evil buggers.

I saw someone had a thread last month I think, where they used Velcro to hold the bottom of the clam together....

theres no snails on it only an astrea star and the hing isnt broken but the musle that opens and closes it is gone

look really closely, especially in the evening,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I couldn't see them but my wife found them when she pulled ours out, found/removed lots

will take a look at night but i do fw dips on clams befor i add them to the tanklol
man this sucks i think il loose it

Is your clam on the sand or a rock shelf, I had mine on a rock shelf and it was doing great for the longest time, I think something was attacking it from the bottom. I thinking Bristle worms but not sure, long story made short I lost it.

Hey! I never "LEFT" the hobby, just doing fresh water now. Which is still listed as part of Canreef if I'm not mistaken.

Its on the sand atm and sorry to hear that sucks

A lot of them that came out pet land seem to have died

They are doing a refurb at the moment on their saltwater stuff. Although it seems like they have been doing it forever. They have a huge frag yank set up now but it doesn't have water in it yet.

They have sold salty stuff for about a year now I think.
