Default Algea ID

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me identify this algea and if it's a problem.

I remember watching a vid on youtube and the guy's tank had the same algae as you have, she said it's a bad case of diatoms.his CUC wouldn't touch it cuz it was too thick,so he scrubbed the rocks with a toothbrush.

Default algea

Its hard to tell from my blackberry, is this algae thick and brown? I had some on a couple pieces of rock I got and my clean up crew wouldn't touch it either, until I introduced stomatella snails. It was gone in a week

It sounds like the stuff you had was Lobophora, this however looks different. I've never seen this stuff before, weird...

ya it's weird for sure. It's turning quite dark so I'm hoping that's an indication it could be dying.

Anyone else want to take a stab at what this might be?

What is your nitrate and phosphate levels at? What kind of lighting are you using and how long do you have them on for? Do you use RO/DI water? There are many factors that can cause algae problems.

Nitrate and phosphate levels are both at zero. Lighting is AI Sol's, RO/DI water from day 1.

I'm going to bump up my cleanup crew and see if that helps. I'm also going to take out any pieces I can and scrub them with a wire brush.
