Default eheim 1260 making lots of noise

So i have this ehiem 1260 that is on one of my skimmers. I plugged it in today and noticed its making alot of noise. Impeller needle things seem to be broken

How can i tell if the impeller is only thing broken? When I put in the impeller, it doesnt sit the in middle, it keeps touching one of the sides.

how do i know its the impeller? if i plug the pump in by it self, its queit but i can tell something is going on.

The impeller isnt cracked, well the shaft isnt. The plast part around the shaft where the needle wheel stuff is, is cracked. I was going to mesh mod it but its making alot of noise without the top part which is cracked, removed.

You mesh/needle wheel is broken. Which will cause an imbalance when it spins, producing a lot of vibration and noise.

Also, those metal washers I see, hope they are high quality stainless or they will eventually rush and release copper into your system. I would get them out to be safe.

alright, well lucky me i have two 1260s, one was running my chiller. I pulled it out, swaped the shafts and its quiet. I guess the shaft thing needs replacing but the motor is fine.

That's odd that it was the shaft. A broken shaft isn't something that you would not notice.

But I would contact the company that made your skimmer and ask about the mesh wheel. It just doesn't look right missing a big chunk of the wheel.
