IMHO it's not any better than the standard magnetic cleaner - that's what I meant about not worth the hype.

I've used the razor scaper on bowfronts and quarter round tanks and it works well, just used it running with the curve of the glass instead of up and down the glass.

I've used just about every size of the mag floats for years and never had a problem. I've also used the hagen ones, they work well too, except they rust if you leave them in the tank like you can with the mag floats.

Consider yourself lucky if all you waste on this hobby was 14 bucks. The alternative mag scrapper is a hammerhead and they run around 80-130 bucks.

yeah I got a hammerhead today. paid $75 for the 1/2-5/8" version. works great though! It had that velcro strip, but I attached the included coarse scrub pad that came with it and it worked great.

I was thinking of getting a mag though, for my 33g cichlid tank, but I'm glad you've posted your own thoughts. I don't think I will now.
