Sounds like you should get yourself a few good SW/reefkeeping books and do your homework before jumping in.

I do agree with MMAX it is always best to do a bit of research online as people have so many different opinions. And with so many questions you will get several difference answers. I have about 1/2 dozen books and about 50 bookmarked sites on all sorts of issues and have only had SW for less then a yr.

Thought I was being helpful. Didn't mean to sound offensive but with all your questions you really need to do a bunch of research before starting. There are plenty of good sites on line and lots of helpful books where you'll find the answers to your questions. All I'm saying is take it slow.

If you want you and I could get together out at my place and discuss what plan's you are thinking about. I live 10 min's east of Balckfalds. This might help a bit. PM me, I will send my # if you are interested.

lets just keep it to can reef for now. good news though i ot some live rock, not enough though just 28 pounds, currently going through the curing process. and i got a skimmer, sea clone 100, i was wondering just how much water turbulence i would need, i have 2 powerheads, and 2 aquaclears, 70 and 110, not running any media in them though cause of the whole trapping of the debris and whatnot.

thoughts?

Hi claymax, Sorry but you may want to rethink using the seaclone. If you google it you will see the are considered a bit of a joke, hence their nickname of seaclown. When you are more fully set up with a quarantine tank and such you may be able to use it on a small tank, but not very efficient on most tanks. Don't feel bad, alot of people have made this mistake, I did 5 years ago. I use it now on my 30 gallon quarantine and it struggles on that. Keep your eyes on the board and you can find awesome deals, I did on a great euroreef. As for flow, it all depends on what you will eventually keep for corals, anwhere from 10 times tank turnover to way way more. The worst is to have dead zones of flow.

I have a SeaClone on my 65 hex pred tank in the sump and it does not bad, they work best on tanks with a small bio load or as Seafan said small QT. The Marine Apprentice has my other one on his nano tank and it is kicking ass, they are very finicky and need constant adjustment and cleaning.

What are you planning with the Aqua Clears? Main filtration? If you are not going with a sump then I would suggest using a Rena XP2 or XP3 canister filter for main filtration loaded with Carbon and PhosSorb and ceramic cube's.

Hey SEAFAN nice to see you on hear again neighbor, are you still in the same place

Hey Grizz, you betcha we're still neighbors. I see that build of yours has come together beautifully. I've noticed you've picked up some really nice pieces lately, let us know when you might want to part with a few, or have some frags up for sale Just buggin, congrats on your tank!
