When Claude suggested Mike stop using IO salt and switch to Seachems RC for instance, is that just because of the lower magnesium & calcium levels in the IO mix or other reasons.

I add mag. & calcium to my fresh water before adding the salt to bring it up to proper levels. I have inquired about switching to Reef Chrystals for no other reason that if I,m going to do this, I wish to follow all the instructions. However, it seems to be not the easiest salt to find, as compared with others.

Is their a problem with my regime?
I know he only suggested RC & Tunze, {heaven knows where one buys that} but what about others such as Tropic Marin Pro, or several of the other better mixes out there?
Thanks

RC have a very stable level of minerals and nutrients without having a detectable level PO4

Fauna have had the best success using this salt.

So as per our discussion, in regards to a shallow aragonite sand bed, and without getting into sand beds versus no sand beds, would the UltraLith system not be designed for bare bottomed sps tanks also?

Yes it will work with bare bottom tanks of course.

But last time I was in the Maldives I swore I was diving over a nice area of sand
