![]() this is where people get the wrong perspective about water changes, they dont get rid of nutrients the ratio is too low think about what your saying and please read up on it before you answer me back and I have to write back another novel lol.. skimming is the break down of bubbles"nutrient concentration" by the contact of air and water break down , water changes are to rebuffer your system ph,alkalinity etc... I bet you're one of those guys who with high nitrates and you should have them with clown fish breeding would do major water changes!! big no no it will still be present... Not in anyway trying to argue with you just a friendly conversation but it's too bad and you would agree alot of people are non educated in this hoby and do more harm than anything...
Has for affordability if you can't then you shouldn't be in it, overtime people always upgrade why not wait and save and get reliability... If you undestood mechanics of skimming you wouldnt be cheering for coralife skimmers they are absolute crap, the motor is crap, the tests of water to air contact ratio is below normal. Derek was the biggest clown fish breeder here in toronto and lucky for you he is no longer doing it lol.., you can put a seaclone skimmer to his tanks and would skim a cup of crap within minutes if you understand what I am trying to get at, the amount of chemichals thrown in those tanks makes it very rich nutrient in other words any crap skimmer will skimm. |

![]() lets get this straight I have never said any of those skimmers will not skim, so if you tell me you got a cup everyday of black brick stuff, can you imagine what is not skimming in the tank, and if you were getting that much crap a day with a below average skimmer, can you imagine how dirty and how bad your husbandry in the tank is... pretty scary...
Get in to reef central forums and go to product reviews and you will see what peoples opinions are on different brand of skimmers... ![]() If you paid 4xthe cost of the coralife for a deltec "awesome choice!!" and you are completly satisfied with the cheaper skimmer then why not buy another coralife.... I rest my case lol..!!the next time I go to jim's in kingston I will show pics of crashes and disasters I had to fix over the years in my maintenance trips... To me use garbagge by all means it's just more money in my pocket if you know what I mean... Last edited by ntotheblue; 10-12-2009 at 02:05 PM. Reason: wrong spelling |

![]() Obvoiusly ntotheblue you think your own crap don't stink.
Frankly, the person looking for a coralife skimmer doesn't give a crap what you think. He or she is looking for what works best for them and their system. They have used coralife in the past and they are happy with it and want another one. End of story. Period. If you want to debate the quality of different skimmers create a new thread elsewhere, this is not what the classifieds section is for. Welcome Rkelman, hope this guy doesn't give you a bad impression of the rest of us here. I have seen the clownfish rkelman breeds and his set up and he has seen mine. I can tell you right now he has a really good set up going, much better than most other breeders I have seen and his clownfish are healthy because of it. So even if you go to Jim's (in Gananoque, not Kingston) with pics of system crashes, which would be a waste of time because any one can search that crap on the internet through any reef forum, it won't mean a damn thing. People have their preferences whether they can afford the expensive stuff or the cheaper stuff. So for the person this thread is for, I will keep my eyes open for you in other places for a Coralife Skimmer. Do you specifically want the size for the 125g or are you looking for a skimmer of any size?

![]() "this is where people get the wrong perspective about water changes, they dont get rid of nutrients"
That statement makes no sense. "think about what your saying and please read up on it before you answer me back and I have to write back another novel lol." No need for a novel thanks. If you'd edit out the lol's and !'s you'd save yourself alot of typing. "I bet you're one of those guys who with high nitrates and you should have them with clown fish breeding would do major water changes!! big no no it will still be present..." I do major water changes. That's why my tanks are clean and my fish are healthy. I get fewer than 1% misbars. When you feed 3 times a day you are going to have nitrates no matter what skimmer is used. "lets get this straight I have never said any of those skimmers will not skim, so if you tell me you got a cup everyday of black brick stuff, can you imagine what is not skimming in the tank, and if you were getting that much crap a day with a below average skimmer, can you imagine how dirty and how bad your husbandry in the tank is... pretty scary..." In my 90g my nutrients were very low and my nitrates were 0 all my chaeto died because it was so low. I'd say the skimmer / water changes were working for me. Just because it doesn't work like my $800 Deltec it doesn't mean its crap. "If you paid 4xthe cost of the coralife for a deltec "awesome choice!!" and you are completly satisfied with the cheaper skimmer then why not buy another coralife.... I rest my case lol..!!" I got my Deltec for a steal and the Coralife wasn't big enough to run a 190g tank. What case? "the next time I go to jim's in kingston I will show pics of crashes and disasters I had to fix over the years in my maintenance trips..." And they are all because of skimmer choice? There are lots of healthy tanks without skimmers at all.. My point is there is a place in this hobby for cheaper equipment. Not everyone can afford the best. To say "Has for affordability if you can't then you shouldn't be in it," is pretty pompus IMO. That's like saying if you can't drive a Mercedes you shouldn't be driving. I agree Coralife aren't the best skimmers but they do work. Is my Deltec 4x better than my Coralife no.. Not even close. Is it better? Absolutely. With a Coralife you need to make sure you get one big enough to run your system. "If you undestood mechanics of skimming you wouldnt be cheering for coralife skimmers they are absolute crap, the motor is crap, the tests of water to air contact ratio is below normal." I understand very well thanks. Mine is like 5 years old and its still going strong.. It doesn't seem that crappy to me... "Derek was the biggest clown fish breeder here in toronto and lucky for you he is no longer doing it lol..," I know Derek. Why am I lucky? He wasn't breeding B&W clowns.. Thanks Nebthet. No worries everyone is entitled to their opinion ![]() I'm out I won't be reading this thread any longer as obviously its going nowhere. I have my opinion he has his. |
