I've finished 2 mods and I'm just waiting for my 1435 props. Dave at Burnaby Hobbies expects them in any day. 1-1/2" scd 80 pipe is at Andrew Sheret, 3/16' 416 stainless from a welding supply. Everything else is pretty common and easy to find.

reviving the dead... Did you guys spy this new version of the mod?

There's another one - pretty much same as "hacking off the outlet" mod from years past - floating around on RC, but also using a prop...

I've seen it, I don't particularly like it though for some reason.. seems too complicated for me. I made my mods in about 20 mins, less even I think.. does the job so.. I am happy.

LOL - I'm with Midknight, same goes here! About as skilled as a dead monkey - I'd probably end up cutting a finger off. Though this sounds kick ***!!! C'mon, I think we'd be MORE than willing to allow our PHs to be used! ^_^

I've got one of the Maxijet mods going with a 1200 and big Dumas propellor. Crazy flow, but having trouble getting the noise/vibration level down, which is apparently a common problem. Right now it's at the "acceptable" level for a basement rec room tank.

I hear that using a carbon fibre rod (rather than a stainless steel) one helps.

Fascinating DIY project nonetheless.

If you buy the parts I'll be happy to mod them for you.

Noise/vibration is the whole reason for this version of the mod - more acceptable for use on a wavemaker, and less likely to have vibration/noise issues.

Carbon fibre vs stainless vs titanium - found they're all about the same for the chatter problems at startup. Never had any real other noises with mine.
