I don't think I have ever had a bad UPS delivery (Knock on wood) My drivers are always pleasant and wait at the door for a while just in case I am neck deep in my tank. They always comment on my tank and say they want to get into it. Overall, I wish I could take my UPS person with me, if I ever move.

Now Canada Post, that is a whole different ball game.

I just got severely BSed by Canada post. So, I have been out of net for the last 3/4 days due to my modem dying on me. Telus was kind enough to dispatch one as soon as they can. So, I got the collection slip yesterday. Its under my room mates name (who is in fort mac right now). I have collected a lot of his package while he was away without any sort of issue. So, today, I went in Canadapost to get my package and the guy won't give me the package since I don't have any authorization and my last name doesn't match! WTF! I politely said that I have collected his package several times and everyone just looked whether the address and the apartment number matched. And he was like "Ok, well that's our policy that you have to have authorization". He didn't even care to say "sorry for the inconvenience" cause clearly he was one! So basically, Canada post can through a very expensive package on the front lawn without any sort of "authorization" but when you show the proof that you live at the same address with the addressee, you need "authorization" which I never needed before.

The shipper can request a signature by the addressee only so that they can verify the correct person got the package. Telus may very well do this as a policy.

Nop it has nothing to do with Telus. I once picked up a cellphone for my friend (delivered at the doorstep). When I told the mailman that I am not the person, he said it doesn't matter as long as someone from the address receives it.
Previously, I also thought that the addressee must collect the package but when I talked with another employee about it, she told me that as long as the address of the person talking the package matches with the address on the parcel, it will work. But apparently, it varies between employees I guess.

I don't think standardization is Canada Post's greatest strength.

Yah. I came to find it out the hard way. Its really bad to be without net at home so I am having to stay till let at the university till I know my supervisor is off the net and I won't have to look at any correction or email for the rest of the night and then when the solution comes, someone has to be a PITA!

On the other hand, I got my TV delivered today in due time without any problem and my new ATI light is waiting at concept for me to pick up I am trying to cool myself down but I simply can't with this stress....
