Thanks Mike, but I can't take any credit. All I did was clean the tank out, Joan did all the rest of the work.

Wow what a difference a good skimmer makes!

The gate valve on my MR-3 skimmer packed it in and I can't find one in my silly little town so I had to order one. Rather than go without a skimmer for a few days I put the Bubble Magus 150 Pro, (from the now shut-down 90g tank), on line. This skimmer is rated for 150 to 200 gallon tank. Within 48 hours the tank has developed cyano; I have to clean the film algae off the glass daily; nitrates have gone from 5 to 30 mg/lt. and some of the corals are looking a little ****y. I think I better do a fair size water change every few days until the gate valve gets here. How some aquarists go skimmerless is beyond me: They must do a water change every day and feed once a month.

Agreed 100% I also have no idea how people go skimmerless.

Came home this morning to find Bubba the Trigger doing the bacon on the carpet. (Only reason I came home from work was because I had forgotten some invoices I needed on the kitchen table). I scooped him up and plopped him back in the water. Who do I thank: Lady Luck or my lousy memory.

He's fine. Didn't come out for his breakfast but was front & centre for dinner, making a pig of himself as usual.

Woo! Good save! Glad to hear he's ok. I never have that luck, they're always fish jerky for me

Phew that was close! I had the same thing happen with a blenny one time. He was fine too, just tossed him back in the tank carpet lint and all.
