Default T5 issues!!

Pictures are taken 2 days apart. Tank is much less blue now. At first I assumed it was just more diatoms building up on the rock but comparing pictures immature it has to do with the bulbs.

My original 4 bulb HOT5 (Fluval) decided to stop working a few weeks ago, so I bought a new 2 bulb HOT5 from the LFS that came with one actinic bulb and one white bulb (I'm planning on adding some LEDs in time to it). The light was not taken off the tank- just slid out of the way to feed with a turkey baster and back again. Both bulbs are still light up

Did my actinic die? Should I put in a warranty claim?? I don't want another light to be busted!!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

How old are the bulbs in each of the pictures? How long was the light on for when you took each picture?

It sounds like the brand new bulb "burned in" they change color from the fist light up to their actual color . All new bulbs take a few days to settle into their intended color and the second picture is what I would expect with 1 atinic and 1 white bulb 10k to look like.

Bulbs are on from 12-10 each day and they were on for several hours in both pics. Brand new fixture that came with the bulbs that was set up less than two weeks ago

I like the bluer one much more, so I guess I need to get additional lights sooner rather than later. I was hoping with just softies I would get away with this for a bit longer

Bulbs are 10,000 and 420. I'll need more light before putting a hammer/ torch/ brain coral in right??

if you want blue, replace actinic bulb with aquablue+ or something similar depending what brands are available to you.

I believe you can put torch and hammer in now so long as parameters are good, just wont look blue.

My dad (who's helping me get this thing up and running) insisted we at least check it out with the LFS we got it from. They checked it out and said something was weird with the bulb and that the light actually should have come with a different bulb. So he just swapped it out for the 'right' one
