Step up transformer
So I got in on a group buy on some items from fish street.
I had requested an led moonlight they sell there but I guess I should have looked closer as it only comes in 220v and right now, I can't use it. It cost me 60 bucks after shipping for this unit (somehow I wound up paying more for shipping as part of the group buy than ordering solo, but that's another story), does anyone know where to get an economical step up transformer to convert 120 to 220? Or did I just toss 60 bucks in the trash? It's only around 10 watts... Any help much appreciated. |

Does your unit have a separate wall wort/transformer that you could swap out?

i would just go buy a new led rather than drop another 50 on this unit.
Lots of 220 to 120 out the for 15-30 bucks but couldn't find anything locally that is 120 to 220. |

The LEDs will run off dc power so the transformer you have converts ac to dc. I've never seen such a transformer that doesn't work for both 120 and 220 vac. So chances are you can just plug in the one you have into 120 but maybe need a plug adapter which can be purchased locally from places like London Drugs for around $20, cheaper on eBay.
You won't get an actual voltage convetor for $15-$20. $50 would be a good deal for something like that, but again unlikely it's needed. |

On the transformer, there should be a decal that says input and output.
Input is 220, what does it say for the output? If it says output is 12 volts, its easy to swap another transformer in. Probably have one you could have for free. |

I found one that I can use in any case... Then found that the glass case around the led is shattered. |

Ow, $60 for a 10 watt moonlight? Sorry, too late, but for that money I could DIY 20 moonlights using waterproof LED 5050 SMD strips, some aluminum angle stock & a 12 volt wall wort.
Something weird about canreef at the moment, can't seem to get the photo insert icon to work, but here are links pasted directly into response window. https://ojcrhq.blu.livefilestore.com...44e.JPG?psid=1 https://ojcrhq.bl3302.livefilestore....61e.JPG?psid=1
