My initial build included an external return pump.
Just weeks after we replaced all the carpet in the house I ran a system test with freshwater and the plumbing leaked a whole lot of water - enough that I had to strip my sump room to dry out the brand-new carpet and underlay, and the wood flooring.

I sealed my sump bulkhead and haven't looked back since
