Default Ref Clouding my tank?

This morning my lights came on all was good, I fed my critters and went for a bite .....5 min later I come back and my tank was a cloudy green....I looked at my ref and most of my Caulpra was clear.....is this some type of bloom? any ideas? thanks

I believe that you algae has gone sexual and release a lot of nasiness into your tank. I would crank out the carbon, the skimmer and the waterchanges if I were you.

if you can get off work early I would! the going sexual can devistate a tank especially if the tank is smallish.

I believe that when caulerpa goes sexual it releases all the nutirents that it has obsorbed and could raise those to toxic levels.

Not to speak for him but....

He has a 77 gal reef with a 55 gal refugium.

Not really a smaller setup but still small enough for it to cloud all the way.

Hopefully enough water that it wont do too much damage, But there was alot of Caulrpa in there. 1 sec clear then boom......Crap LOL

In the article it doesnt metion grape caulrpa.....I look in my ref all the time and there was zero indication, nothing seemed different at all....well live and learn eh
