Ya it could possibly be something else still so definitely try to exhaust all possibilities as cutting those grills will be a beeotch.

I know that on my weir which has egg crate in it, after the first year of operations of my tank I started to notice the water level of my tank hitting my euro brace. Upon investigation I discovered that just three holes on my egg crate had plugged up with encrusting coraline and bubble algae and that was enough to restrict flow into my overflow box considerably. Since my weir is so shallow with respect to the top of my tank I really need to make sure the grates on my weir are completely free of obstruction all the time otherwise the water line will hit my eurobrace and possibly even flood the tank.

Kien may be right about the slats too narrow I hope you don't mind I'm posting the pics you took for others to see I just find this odd for a concept tank I have never heard of this issue before but it can happen

Wouldn't that make them too large? For smaller fish to slip through?

Yes, possibly :-). The only other option would be to re drill/cut the slits themselves which might be difficult. That def would be the way to go though. I don't have such a tool so I would just cut the tabs (between two slits) and live with fishing my tailspot out if the sump :-/

Maybe another alternative is to cut out the entire weir section (all the teeth) and epoxy a whole new grate/weir grills over the weir area? Or use egg grate inside the weir.

absolutely , we had several tanks that we did this too , like dave said the idea was to make it a cleaner look but for some of the large tanks it couldnt handle it.

right now we go with a machined 1/4" notches for all tanks.

i have spoken with trevor on the phone and we are in the works of getting this resolved quickly for him.

in the mean time trevor just break off the current teeth you have this will allow you to finish up with your plumbing, i will have new acrylic out to you immediately

cheers buddy

Yes we had a run of tanks that had this problem didn't realize at the time the surface tension of water would back up with those size cuts! we figure it would look cleaner but never work out that way

give Denny a call at the shop at 5873237360 and i will have a new panel made up and overnight it out to you

thanks Dave

Hey guys....Well I certainly did like the look of the smaller gaps, I never even thought of this being a possible issue when I seen them after the tank was built. So I have broke off every second tooth and the drains flow flawlessly did my emergency drain test by closing the gate valve on the main and the unrestricted 1.5" drain is a BEAST!

Thank You for your timely response in helping me rectify this issue!
