Carpet surfing survivor!!

What is up with LMB's and their addictiion to carpet surfing ? I've had 2 now, and both have met their end in this way, one after 2 years, one after 24 hrs I have also heard of many others meeting the same fate. Is there anything in particular that causes them to jump or is just something that LMB's tend to do ? I'd like to get another one but after losing the last one in <24hrs, I'm kinda worried.

Yup, he's still alive, fins are healing nicely.

I don't know why they do it, I've had him almost a year now and he hasn't before.

Mine went carpet surfing a month ago, he was out of water less than 60 minutes, but I can't be sure how long he was out. Anyhow, picked him up, put him back in the tank... he 'floated' down to the bottom, and within a couple of minutes was back to swimming around.
