I was looking in the tank this morning and found this.

![]() You may remember when I was so happy to get one exactly like this one out of the tank a while back. I have no idea when they came in to my tank but this makes two that Ive seen. Hope I can get lucky enough to get this one out. I should start renting out tank space. I am babysitting again. This time a couple of zoanthid colonies from RC. We got tired of everyone trying to talk us into selling them. I accidentally put one of the colonies to close to my rock work and they have already spread to my rock....sorry Kevin. ![]() My new squamosa clams have crawled their way out to where I could get a couple decent shots. ![]() ![]() I will be doing a battery of tests today so will post parameters later.

Aw man...if you only knew. Almost once a day someone asks "how much for those zoas" and then its followed by a "aw cmon... everything is for sale right?" Once the big tank gets set up they will be back at the shop, hopefully spawning frags. I started operation "hacro" Here are the parameters. Dkh is Elos, the rest are Salifert. nitrate 10, ph 8.0, mag 1290

Yeah what's up with them bases anyhow. At least I don't have a problem with trying to find a spot for mine though. (All currently filed under "G"

)I think your blue-lined clam is in fact a maxima not a squamosa. But you're correct, blue squamy's are very unusual. Be that as it may though, it is still quite exquisite.

Doug, do you have a compressor and a die grinder? I hate the circular frag discs as well (just don't look natural!). I found a die grinder with a cut off wheel quickly trims them down to size.

What??? Man I hate distributors. They came to us as squams and ultra croceas. Thanks for the heads up Tony. Looks like I have some clam homework to do. Thanks for the offer Francis. I am getting er done with a dremel and a 1 1/2" metal cutting disc. Not ideal,I know but it seems to be working.

			 Well, maybe I'm wrong.

But the pattern is one I've seen on pictures before for maximas. Maybe I'm overlooking something, but my first thought was "Wow what a nice maxima! But why didn't he post a picture of the squamosa!" Maybe I should have looked closer at the shell. Squamosa scutes are so noticeably more exaggerated and further apart from one another than those on maximas or croceas. But ultimately, whatever it is: it is one wickedly pretty clam. I want one too!
