If you're talking about Doug's pic. of his smaller dog, I believe the ear is folded back, and that's why it looks odd.

We have been thinking about getting a dog for a while now and this thread definately helped on deciding what kind. We decided to get a mini schnauzer and she just came home this weekend. This is Sophie
