![]() Nice skimmer
![]() So of all the skimmers you have run, whats the most efficient for the dollar. I'm sure the more expensive skim better. But are they that much better?Maybe the question should be will a $1000 skimmer, skim twice as much as a $500 skimmer? I've wondered about that for a while, but don't have the $$ to find out for myself ![]()

![]() Im no expert, I think why people switch skimmer's is pure curiousity. IMo its all about the size of the chamber and the pump is what makes skimming better, the reaction time is a big one too.

![]() A lot of times, one pays not only for how much a skimmer pulls, but how efficiently it does so. Additionally, convenience design features (easy remove cup, easy remove pump, quiet pump, etc) are factored in.

![]() Oh yeah, convenience is a big factor. If something is a nuisance to do the maintenance or cleaning on, it will eventually get procrastinated and so on.
I have owned two beckett skimmers, one that had the keyholes of the flange on the upper part and one where the keyholes were on the bottom. It takes 10 seconds to undo the flange on the top-keyhole skimmer, and it was impossible to undo the flange on the bottom keyhole skimmer because the bolts would tilt as you try to twist the flange. So I ended up having to take the screws all the way out just to clean it every few days. Both were beckett skimmers and I consider one of them, the best skimmer I've owned so far, and the other I consider the worst skimmer I ever owned. Small details can make a big difference. These ATI's look so slick. Nice score Asmodeus!
