You can stock your tank with mostly dry rock if you want and add a few pieces of live rock to seed the rest. Eventually it will all be "live".
It depends on how patient a person you are..

My bad saltwater fantasies does have 7.95 liverock i was thinking about the place that just moved from leduc.

Default Im starting a 45 gallon?
How much live rock and dry rock should i have to have a nice tank with 2 clowns, a flame angel, an urchin, and im also looking a royal gramma and a sand sifter to clean up some of the sand.

Do you need pretty strong lighting to seed the rock?
