Hopefully it gets better quicker then last time.
I had a herniated disk in my lower back and spent many an hours in the emergency room not being able to move. Know exactly what you are experiencing. I have never had a knife in my back but I am guessing the pain is about the same. I had microdiscectomy on my lower back 4 years ago. Backs not perfect but the extreme pain is gone and I can somewhat function again. Let me know if you need anything

I hope you feel better soon man! I have a herniated disc in my neck, a year and a half ago it got really bad; sharp pain in my neck and shoulder with tingling and numbness into my fingers. I basically couldn't move period for 3 weeks which is awesome when you are self employed!
I definitely know what you are going through and wouldn't wish it on anyone. I feel like your thread may turn to turn in to a back pain support group
