Angle restrictions and RW8 comparison
Quick picture update of the pump angle/restrictions I was referring to.
It's also just shy of 90 degrees pointing in the other direction: While I was at it, I took some comparison shots with the RW-8. Relatively the same dimension wise, however I could imagine the QP-9 is marginally bigger due to it's shape. There is an audible sound from the pump, however, without testing it, I believe it is quieter than my MP10. I tried taking video of the pump's operations earlier, with no luck of registering the sound. To better test the sound, I was thinking of downloading the a sound meter for my phone and recording that this weekend. Any suggestions. Also, please let me know of anything you are interested in my testing or demonstrating with the pump. I hope to test all settings this weekend. |

Basically with these powerheads the question is, are you going to run them with an external controller (apex, GHL, etc)? If yes, stick with the Jebao RW/SW series. If you're going to run stand-alone, these are slightly better quality pumps with a lower sound profile, and far better controllers.
The problem for external control arises with requiring an Aqualink A1 control module per pump, due to hardware changes or should I say removal inside the pump head. That's $100 CAD added to the cost of every pump for external controller support, sort of like the Maxspect gyre situation. |
