weird stuff need ID

guys i've got some stuff that looks like white spider webs on my live rock, some of the webbing has a hole in the middle. In some spots it looks like a puff of cotton..

any ideas?

I have a sun coral with something that sounds similar to that.Mine has a feather worm of some type in the middle.

Do you have any type of wrasse in your tank? (Might be remenants of their sleeping bag of who knows what ending up there?)

used to have a six lne but he dissapeared months ago. not quite sure what you mean by sleeping bag?

Many wrasses have a mucus coccoon that is supposed to hide their scent so that predator would not even know the sleeping fish is there. Sometimes you'll see this cocoon floating around and getting stuck to stuff. It looks kind of like spider webs.

i actually have the exact same stuff with no clue as to what it is. i think its some type of sponge. the characteristics are really similar to sponge. your description sounds just like mine.
