![]() I have run CNC vertical/horizontal/lathes off and on for the last 7 years, unless your doing custom projects it can be very boring, 1000-100000 production runs make you want to shoot yourself..... If you want to become a good machinist get into a tool and die shop, they make the world go round, machinist school is 4 years, tool and die is 5 years (apprenticships) and a CNC operator ticket is great if you only want to know how to push buttons. My advice is to learn on manual machineing equipment so you have a clue what is happening when the CNC machine your operating is pulling a couple G's ripping back and forth too fast to see what its doing......
