When are we going to see some results on how the SWC units actually skim compared to the BMs? That's my main concern!

With Ian,s permission. We posted a link for some reviews, if thats of any help to you. Not comparison with any other products though, except for what I and the others have used or seen in action.

Exactly. Same reasons for me. Been friends with Jayson for 10yrs. Purchased lots from him and never had a problem. Local business support for me, although 200km away. As Canadian as it can get. Great to see someone else selling the products, besides American vendors.

Soooo...I am needing a good skimmer and have had the BM220-CS2 CONE SKIMMER recommended for quality, quiet operation, and excellent production of skimmate. What is the comparable model to this in the SWC line? Tank is a 300g that will be heavily stocked and SPS dominant

Hi Sarah,
The SWC 250 1A would be a great choice. It's specs are: -11 inch diameter 25 inch height 140 mm(5.5) inch neck -Single pump -A 1 piece seamless conical protein skimmer. -Comes with an Italian made Askoll 1500 pump. Custom enlarged injection moulded volute, venturi and pinwheel. -An integrated removable bubble plate to help reduce turbulence within the protein skimmer. -Extra-wide necks in the design to allow for more air flow. -Wedge pipe output allows you to adjust the skimmer and have fine control of the water level. -Custom injection moulded pin wheel impeller for perfect balance. -Custom injection moulded volute and venturi. Every single one is the same! No milled volutes for tolerence issues. -Up to 70scfh of air pull using custom pin wheel impeller. These are real numbers not hyped numbers. -Power factor of up to .53 -Draws less than 70 watts of electricity per pump. -Quick release neck on the collection cup - requires 1/2 inch of clearance to remove the cup. -Can be converted to run single pass in sump by unscrewing 2 unions! -Recommended water depth 6-8 inches. -Can be used in sump or in recirculation mode. -Foot Print in inches (L x W x H): 18 x 15 x 24 -Xtreme 250 ASOR Cone Skimmer Tank ratings: Light Bioload 700 gallons Med Bioload 500 gallons Heavy Stocked Bioload 400 gallons Finally Price: $749.99 USD. How do you compare the performance of 2 skimmers?
By the amount of skim-mate they produce? No! By the color of skim-mate? No! By the smell of skim-mate? No! By some physical factors? No!I would love to have some Feldman & Maers type study of the skimmers. Show me some numbers! Last edited by George; 07-17-2010 at 04:51 AM. |
