Aw shucks....my face is all red. Its already been said that Kevin and I were and are hobbyists first and foremost. We draw upon our experience and the experiences of thousands of other reefers around the world through this and other forums. We use those experiences to make our decisions about what we would like to bring in as far as dry goods and other equipment is concerned. It has been a constant search for the right supplier for fish and coral. Trying to find the best quality and selection has proven to not be the easiest task. We are just now starting to get through the initial growing pains and thanks to all you customers that have helped us through it. We feel that we can take the Calgary lfs to the next level, somewhere between the "big chain store" and the two man operations.

Thanks for all the compliments.
Doug.

I was in Calgary a couple of months ago and went to Red Coral just to have a look around. After browsing the store, I introduced myself to Kevin and we had a nice chat about all things salty. Very nice fellow, and very nice store. Great selection of healthy fish, corals etc. To make a long story short I bought about $400 of corals. (Can't help myself). Kevin did an excellent job of packaging for me as I had to take them home on the plane. All corals made it home in great shape. All-in-all a great experience and I will definitely stop in again when I'm up that way.

How did you take the corals on the plane? Did you do it as carry on, and what carrier did you use?

I had them in a cooler, (well taped), and labelled, and asked for them to be placed in oversize baggage which supposedly is handled more carefully and placed in a different area of cargo. WestJet assured me they would be taken care of and they were good to their word, as there was no problems.

Red coral= pwn.

Red coral is just awesome. I haven't had the chance to meet kevin yet, but i already know he's awesome. and Doug is just the best. he's like a mother Teresa of reefing, for newbs and pros.

the store is wonderful, they have awesome display tanks for both big and nano tanks, and the stock is always way up there.

i definitely know where my first ever coral is coming from

I'm also very happy with my experiences there thus far... only bad thing I can say is it isn't the best location b/c it's too far from my house. I'd prefer a block and a half ahah

Might have to start a weekly shuttle, being that I'm out in Chestermere, and move through Calgary picking up others that want to go there. Now all I need is a bus.

Well, I have to put my two cents in now.. I have only been to Red Coral once, and that one visit was very brief, but very enjoyable. Kevin is a standup guy, very generous and just flat out amazing to deal with... always has time for his customers! They have gone out on a limb for me by helping me out with finding some new lighting a while back, MUCH appreciated! No other LFS has done this for me, ever.

Basically in short, the first time I went there, I was treated better and just felt very comforatable in there than I have in any other LFS I have been to thus far. I was amazed by their customer service and the way they run their store. Great guys, great service, great livestock makes for one great store!
