Hey Jim ... Generally speaking MH should be spaced every 2 feet ... so in your case the extra 400W MH is probably a good idea ... at 24" deep though I dont think you " have " to go with 400W and if you have another 250W you would be just fine.

You might also boost the flourescent to VHO but that is up to you
