Well, actually, it was slow to start. Here it is from last Apr, just barely covering the plug.

And this is from Oct, barely 2 months ago.

As you can see, it has pretty well doubled in size in just the last 2 months. And the color is much better now. So it definitely likes something in my tank.

Well, I just looked that one up, and while there are some resemblances, not sure about that. The tips on mine are pink, not purple, and it has a very green base. Also the growth pattern is different. Mine seems to be spreading out equally in all directions. But it is still pretty small, so that could change.

But then again, not sure how authentic the internet pics I've seen are either.

Thanks for the lead, though.

Yes, with my Olympus TG-2 (TG-3 is out now). If I have enough patience (rarely), can take some really sharp macro pics with it.

Haha, yeah, everyone asks about that one... Can only call it Acropora.sp for now. It is a very nice piece, though, and really deserves a designer name...

Very nice. I have the same camera TG3 but have yet to try taking reef photos with it yet.

I believe that sps is called purple plasma. However I could be wrong. I have a peice as well and looks next to identical under lower nutrients.

Yeah, nice thing with that camera, too, is that you can set your white balance by just pointing it at the sand, and save it.

I have sold a few accidental frags of it to people (maybe even you, Thomas, haha), but have never had a name. Gets more color as it matures and grows larger. It's multi colored, actually, only tips are purple. It has lime green and beige, too.

Wow good to know about the camera, maybe I'll try it out this week and can show you a photo of that purple plasma acro. Its similar however the tips might be slightly different. I picked it up as a Purple plasma acropora, but we will see what I get a good photo like yours. Too bad you can't make it to the frag swap.

Yeah, bummer,.. I missed it last time, too, when it was out there,... can't remember, but was gone somewhere again. But I was at Dave's, the last one here in Langley, and was a great turn out.

That camera has a lot of capabilities with the different scene settings and super macro mode. Also, can play with flash and exposure, too. And that manual white balance setting is great to get rid of that blue or purple hue that you get with the lights. But it takes time and patience to experiment with it, and find what works best for you. Sure is nice to just put it in the water, though. I think the TG-3 is still rated as the best camera of its type when you read the reviews.
