Default THE best levels

Hi,

I like to keep my calcium around 375 - 400 PPM, but the alk is kept high...around 10 to 12 dkH. The lower calcium levels are used to slow down calcium buildup on impellers and power heads. I found that the buildup was exponentially increasing with respect to calcium levels. 375 seems to keep the buildup low and tank happy -- keep in mind that my tank is mainly softies and LPS. 450 ppm is better if you want higher growth, but you'll need to clean your pumps more offten. The alk is high to keep stabalize the pH at night and help ward off green algae attacks.

Hope that helps.

- Victor.
