I used to race 1/12, 1/10 on road and 1/10, 1/8 nitro on road. I raced a small amount of 1/8 buggy.
Wayne Mah and Craig Miller used to school me regularly at all of the above they are like fricken robots.

Nah, 1/10 Onroad Mini -- http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=58438

There are about 30-40 weekly racers running Mini on Carpet (here in Edmonton... Also Calgary has 2 clubs racing the same thing (plus 1/10 Touring & 1/12 GTP))

I used to race HPI electric on-roads and had a couple of buggies. I eventually bought myself a CNC mill and started making my own cars. Mostly made buggies from carbon fiber and aluminum but did get brave enough one time to build a 1/4 scale Mclaren F1 with a 3hp engine.... ya, that was an expensive project.

Sold them all before starting my PhD and I regret every minute of it now!

Next hobby when I have time: RC jets!

Outside of R/C cars (for the racing), here is my current favorite R/C 'toy':
