![]() I had a UV sterilizer in my tank. There was no algae and the water is super clean. It stops working. I did not get a replacement. My tank now has green hair algae.
From my experience, it's worth it. |

![]() I got a properly sized UV (40watt Emperor Aquatics) for my setup and I can assure you it does make a difference.
I originally got it to help my fish beat velvet (and it worked) but I also noticed less film on my glass and my skimmer is pulling out more gunk than ever before. I am able to maintain low NO3/PO4 without using carbon or GFO so far. LOVE IT! |

![]() sort of read, if you are doing more fish than corals tank, it is a good thing to have. However, if there are more corals, macro algage tanks, you would want to prevent kill off of food such as pods/ plankton life etc. I think a lot of setups you see on the other forums ( eg. nano-reef, reefsanctuary ) people don't use it anymore.

![]() As a sterilizer or clarifier, I prefer ozone as a better use of funds. It has its cons, but you can't beat its effectiveness.
