T5 60" are gonna cost you an arm and leg for bulbs, and because of that very few retailers carry them as ordering 60" T5 bulbs typically requires the retailer to order a full skid which again is expensive. Only place I've seen that carries them is Progressive Reef and its the ATI 60" units, so expect to spend big money.

Your best bet is gonna be pendents... or a 24" and 36" combined.

+1.. Two 24 inchers would allow you to spread the light more evenly which sounds like what you're after. That's what I would do :-)

what are the tank dimension's front to back ?

are you looking to go t5, mh or combo ? as t5 may make you pull your hair out with 22" front to back when your looking for a 24" fixture.
