No problem with ABS; it's one of those myths. Your powerheds, pumps, heaters etc. all contain ABS parts/housings.

Yep, for my drains anyway, It's gonna take a bit of jacking around to figure out what I need for my returns but I'll save that for another day.

Cool I didn't want to have to run around here and there like I did to find what you needed. The guys down there were very helpfull to me. If you have an idea take your return pump in & bounce idea's around, look at different fitting's.

What size of tank are you setting up?

I'm not so sure about the safety of ABS pipe. Admittedly pumps etc are made from ABS, but there may be an issue of quality/purity/adjuncts etc. compared to sewage pipe grade ABS.

AFAIK Plumbing code prohibits the use of ABS for potable water. For potable water it is necessary to use PVC or Polyethylene (i.e. PEX). Likewise for medical grade it is necessary to use CPVC.

Why take the risk? Use PVC like everyone else does. It's tested and predictable.
