If you put it on the nut, the nut will bunch up the seal and it WILL LEAK. And, if you have the style bulkheads like I used from Wendell on my 150g, the nuts have "teeth" which would totally make a mess of the seal

![]() Always flange side, wet or dry, but the ideal is on the wet side.
Small tip: I always put a thin layer of silicon around the edges of the hole and only then assemble the bulkhead. After that I put a second layer of silicon around the bulkhead (in side and outside) for extra safety |
