I think it mostly needs to be in good light. I do target feed it almost every day as I feed my tank. All kinds of little foods... But I didn't feed the frags I got from it while they were in the tank and they seemed just as happy as the mother. Under good high light they also get frosted blue tips. I love this coral! I've had it about 6 months and it's doing better all the time.
